Superstitions, God and more unrelated stuffs

I saw the hindi movie called "Phoonk" today.. It is based on superstitions, atheism etc. So I'm inspired to write about it now.
Lemme also say that this topic is not going to stick to one thing.. Also I might be writing stuff here and there. So don't mind!

Occultism, Black Magic etc were always my favourite topics. To know about stuff you can't see or exciting beliefs made me look out for them. If you ask me whether I'm a believer in God and the Devil, then well I really don't know.

I've always questioned my mother's faith in God and yet I cry out the Lord's name when I'm afraid. It gives me strength rather it makes me feel as if I'm protected and feel stronger. My family believes in God completely with all their heart. I do to a certain extent.

Sometimes I wonder what is this feeling we get when we watch the horror movies.. I know atheist ppl who get afraid watching them too.. But y? Do they believe in the devil? If not, then what are they afraid of? If yes then how diff is it from believing in God..

Somehow I always seemed to have believed that if there is something good, then there is something bad. There are positive ions and negative ions, there is the male gender and the female gender, a good-looking and an ugly,  white and black, a good and a bad.. More like something to create balance.. Too much of one thing will disturb the balance of the universe..

Ever wondered abt the process of getting old? I sometimes start thinking how I will be when I get old, then it makes me think.. how can I get old.. How are we born? No. M not asking for the biological answers here!!  What are we? How do we get related to each other? What makes a family? Sometimes I stare at my mom and think... Who is she? Why do I listen to her? Why does it hurt when something happens to her? Why do I feel bad if I shout at her for something? What is this bond of attachment? Where did we all come from? Our origin? Who made us? ADAM-EVE? Darwin's Theory of Evolution? I really dunno. But one thing I know is that I will never get answers for these.

Ok, the above was off topic maybe.... or not! Coming back to the believers and the non-believers..
I don't usually go to temples. Mom visits it often. When she asks y I don't.. I say, "God is everywhere. I don't have to explicitly go to a temple to see him." On the other hand I also question her.

Once I had gone to the bengali durga puja mandal and I saw the "Karthikeya" God also called as "Murugan" for the tamil folks. On our way back home, I was asking mom few questions. It went something like this.
Me: How come the bengalis believe in "Karthikeya".
Mom: y can't they?. We are all Hindus, we believe in the same Gods no?.
Me: Well, but apparently "Karthikeya" or "Murugan" is know to be the tamil God, the creator of the language.. then how come the bengalis started believing him?
Mom: For them, the story of "Karthikeya" is different.
That was all I needed to hear! ;)
Me: So that means, we have innumerable stories for the same God depending on the caste or something, so which one is true. How can I believe in any of them?

So well, there was no answer for this... What are these different languages we speak? Why are we all the same and yet different?
That's all for today.. Looks like I'm gonna continue sometime later

Meeting room turns Hospital

So well, we were in midst of this really important meeting regarding the project not hitting its deadlines and all that.. Boredom hit me and my fellow artist friend when the programmers started discussing in depth stuff.
So we thought of a great idea to be part of the converstaion and enjoy it too..
We changed the whole scenario to a hospital.
Our producer was the Doc, the studio manager was the chief, the lead programmer was the patient.
And we started saying out wat can be termed as dialogues for the scene. And trust me it really fitted well!!
Hehe

We had compounders, loaners, relatives, friends, more patients waiting for their turn etc sll playing their roles perfectly well.
We had two more fellas who were bored to hell and were looking as if they had no clue y they were there. Those were our non-interactable props ;)

And of course, myself and my friend had our share of guest appearances too!!

And tomorrow we both are supposed to play major roles. So well... I'm not quite prepared with the dialogues.. if u know what I mean... Hehe!

Office Olympics

So on the friday that went by, we had an Olympics going on at office.
Counter Strike, NFS, guitar Hero, Tele matches and chess were the official games!
Although the name given to it was to remind us of "Olympics", the most important feature of the Olympics was not implemented!
There was just a first prize and points for that studio!
This sucked because we came second in all the games except CS which we won!!
Also, our studio always wins usually! And it really sucked to lose this time..
Oh well, we will take over next time... ;)
After all this we played good ol' Quake III and UT on LAN unoffficially!! It was fun!!
And I never knew I was this good at Quake!! May be all the frustration just poured in.. Ha Ha!!
Also we had Mario Kart racing - multiplayer on the DS.
Forgot to mention free snacks!! Thankfully we could've two rounds.. Boy... I was real hungry!!
Also we had to dress up in our whacky style that day!! I was gonna go for a goth look then changed my mind. Much better to let ppl laugh at me than scare them to death..hehe
Here's the pic:

Ok! alright!
No need to laugh now!! :P

Guitar Hero for PC!!

So, well.. we are having a gaming party at office this friday. Guitar hero is one of the events and it is being hosted by our studio. Today was the practics sessions and I was so regretting that such a nice game was restricted to just the consoles. So my colleague just googled it and guess what!!?
There IS a PC Version!!
Guitar Hero III is launched for the PC.
Ok wait! It was lauched like a year back and no one knew!!
I have never seen the PC version in the market...

Just when my happiness was at its peak, I started finding out the minimum requirements for the game and I was highly dissapointed. My current system (ITS A NICE ONE!) just about matches the minimum requirement of the game!

I've no clue why they need such a high end system to run Guitar Hero!!
Follow these links to read abt it (Gamespot, IGN etc all have it too.. Well Obvious!)

fter reading the review I'm in double minds whether to bother buying it and wait for the Wii prices to drop and get the Wii and teh game! ;)

The truth behind Eee as per Wiki

Eee? I was wondering what it stands for.. Some complicated full form perhaps..
Then it struck me --- Wikipedia!! ;)

So here it goes,
According to ASUS, the name Eee derives from "the three Es," an abbreviation of its advertising slogan for the device: "Easy to learn, Easy to work, Easy to play"

So thats all about it!

Oh and these things are called subnotebooks/netbooks/minibooks!
Honestly I came to know abt this right now when I was trying to find the truth behind Eee!!

Oh well, as Shakespeare puts it : What's in a name!

Ok Ok, I know there was no need to drag him here!! XD
Here's an image differentiating the handheld, subnotebook and laptop! Once again thanks to wikipedia!

Sizes (smallest to largest): Nintendo DS Lite (handheld), Asus Eee PC (subnotebook) and MacBook (laptop).

Alright I need to save up to buy a Mac now!! =))

Dream House - Not in reality!

Considering the property rates in Mumbai, it really is just a dream to own a house of your choice. Once upon a time long long ago.. I had a dream to buy a 3 BHK atleast which has now come down to 1 BHK which also nowadays seems unlikely!

A frigging decent 1BHK also costs around 30 lacs even in Koparkhairane area!!

To own a house these days is like achieving a herculean task!!
And I'm not including the higher class society. They can still afford.

I really dunno what's gonna happen in few years or months!!
With the property rates so high, there are high chances the rental live ins are gonna be at its peak. Thats probably the cheaper way out. But then ppl have to be ready to move in and out!!!

Oh GOD!!
Gimme some money to buy a 3BHK!!
;)

ASUS Eee PC 904H

I'm a proud owner of the ASUS Eee PC 904H.
I just got it yesterday.. the black one.
Its' got 8.9" LCD screen, 80 GB HDD and 1GB DDR2 RAM upgradable to 2.
It costed me Rs. 22,990/-
The actual price comes to about Rs. 26,990/-
Thanks to Independence Day Offer! And I really like its soft velvette pouch!! ;)
I also opted for the combo offer of WD's 120 GB external HDD for just Rs. 1990/- whereas the actual cost was Rs. 5990/-

It has a intel celeron @900Mhz processor compared to 1000H model.
The 1000H model has the ATOM processor which makes the battery life last longer.
However both the models have a super hybrid engine to increase the battery life..
The 1000H model also comes with bluetooth and dolby speakers whereas the 904H has integrated speakers.
Also compared to the 700 and 900 series where the keyboard is scaled down to 83% of the generic one, the 1000 series will have about 92% of the generic one
The Eee PC 1000H is priced at Rs. 29,990/-

I couldn't find the 1000 series Eee PC in Croma or Vijay Sales [Navi Mumbai area]
Oh and guess what the ASUS 701 which my colleagues bought for Rs. 17,000/- didnt come with a hard disk. Now the same model comes with a 120 GB HDD and at the same cost!!!

Also, we checked out ACER Inspire which is similar to the 904 model, rather with a slightly better config at the same price - Rs. 22,999/-
It has tht ATOM processor and 120 GB HDD.
But then the screen clarity was not that great.

Even with a good desktop machine, a nintendo DS and now the Eee PC, life is still not content!! Hehe
